How to prepare for raising chickens for the first time

1.Prepare a thermometer and a hygrometer.

The chicks need to be checked daily for temperature, humidity, and coop's ventilation and light. Be sure to pay attention to whether the actual temperature and humidity are consistent with those measured by the instrument, especially for newly born chicks, more attention should be paid to temperature and humidity. Coop's ventilation should also be done well, otherwise the chick's spirit will be very poor.

2.Chickens are afraid of cold, so pay attention to keep warm.

When chicks are born, their ability to keep warm is poor, and the body temperature of chicks is lower than that of adult chickens, so be sure to do a good job of keeping warm. If possible, you can buy a fluffy nest that imitates the mother chicken's wings.

3.Observe the behavior of the chicks.

Healthy chicks behave very lively, move around frequently, and lie prone when resting, which is what we often call hen squatting. If the chick does not move or eat, then the body is abnormal and needs to be checked as soon as possible!

4.Pay attention to stool examination.

Healthy chicken droppings are light brown or grayish-yellow, and are basically formed. If it becomes very thin, it proves that the health of the chick is threatened!

5.Pay attention to chicken feather inspection.

Healthy chicks have fully developed feathers. If the feathers fall off and the skin has lumps, it is also abnormal in health! You can check with the veterinarian in the village.
